Cigarette Display Rack Manufacturing Industry: The Transformation Path from Basic Display to Intelligent Terminal
Recently, the annual summit of China's cigarette display rack manufacturing industry was held in Shanghai. The transformation path from the early basic display tools to today's intelligent terminal carriers is clearly presented, attracting wide attention from the industry.
Looking back at the initial stage of the industry (1980s-1990s), tobacco retail was dominated by traditional grocery stores at that time. The display rack products had a single material, mostly wood or ordinary iron, with simple structure and fixed size, which could only meet the basic needs of "neatly placing cigarettes". According to industry veterans, at that time, products had no brand design, compliance was not taken into account, and the service life was generally less than 3 years, making it difficult to adapt to various cigarette pack specifications.
From the early 21st century to 2010, the industry ushered in a wave of functional upgrading. With the rise of chain supermarkets and tobacco and alcohol specialty stores, terminals have higher requirements for the durability and aesthetics of display racks. Cold-rolled steel plates gradually replaced traditional materials, the baking paint process became popular, and the rust resistance and texture of products were significantly improved; adjustable laminate design appeared, and some high-end products integrated brand logos and lighting elements. At the same time, the policy's regulation on tobacco warning signs promoted the reservation of fixed warning areas for display racks, and compliance design became an industry access threshold.
After 2010, the wave of new retail promoted the industry to enter the intelligent transformation period. Today, intelligent display racks launched by leading enterprises have integrated temperature and humidity sensors and inventory monitoring modules, which can feedback the storage status of cigarettes and replenishment needs in real time, and some products are also equipped with electronic price tags and LED dynamic screens. In addition, the application proportion of recyclable materials exceeds 60%, and the modular design allows display racks to adapt to a variety of retail scenarios. A person in charge of a chain brand said that intelligent display racks have become a standard configuration in stores, helping to improve operational efficiency by 30%.
Industry experts pointed out that the industry's development history reflects the transformation of tobacco retail formats, and the industry will continue to move towards a more intelligent and environmentally friendly direction in the future.
